  • Ghana Signals Strong Commitment to AfCFTA and IATF2025 Ghana is accelerating efforts to unlock new trade and investment opportunities across Africa, as demonstrated during the IATF2025 Business Roadshow held in Accra. The event brought together leaders from government, finance, and industry to mobilise participation in the upcoming Intra-African Trade Fair IATF (IATF2025), scheduled for 4–10 September 2025 in Algiers, Algeria. Representing the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, the Acting National Coordinator of the National AfCFTA Coordination Office, Benjamin Kwaku Asiam, highlighted Ghana’s work in supporting over 2,000 MSMEs with AfCFTA readiness training, market access programmes, and trade missions to East Africa. “We are shifting from commodity-based trade to value-added exports in gold, cocoa, and oil—ensuring Ghanaian businesses can compete and grow under the AfCFTA.” The Secretary General of the AfCFTA Secretariat, H.E. Wamkele Mene, positioned IATF as a transformative platform for translating policy into action. “IATF is where Africa’s integration becomes tangible through trade deals, partnerships, and investment flows that stimulate inclusive growth and job creation.” From Afreximbank’s perspective, Dr. Yemi Kale, Group Chief Economist & MD, Research, emphasised that access to timely market intelligence remains a critical challenge. “Information asymmetry hinders trade. IATF2025 helps bridge that gap connecting suppliers, investors, and buyers across Africa and beyond.” With over 2,000 exhibitors, 35,000 visitors, and US$44 billion in projected trade and investment deals, IATF2025 is a vital opportunity for Ghanaian enterprises to expand their footprint in the continental market. Hosted by the Government of Algeria, and delivered in partnership with Afreximbank, the African Union Commission, and the AfCFTA Secretariat, IATF2025 will showcase Africa’s industrial potential across sectors from automotive and agribusiness to fintech, fashion, and culture. Now is the time for Ghanaian businesses, government institutions, and innovators to secure their place on this continental stage. 🔗 Register now: https://lnkd.in/gMxycGE #IATF2025 #AfCFTA #Ghana #Afreximbank #TradeInAfrica

  • Afreximbank charts new frontiers for Africa’s global trade Yesterday, at the International Trade Centre’s Partnerships for Africa Day held in Geneva, Prof. Benedict Oramah, President and Chairman of the Board of Directors at Afreximbank, delivered a powerful keynote highlighting Africa’s trade evolution and reaffirming the Bank’s vision to position Africa as a confident, connected and competitive actor in global trade powered by MSMEs, women, youth, and a new generation of south-south alliances. Prof. Oramah reflected on the deep and evolving partnership between Afreximbank and ITC, built on a shared mission to enable Africa’s private sector to thrive under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). Through joint programmes such as “How to Export with the AfCFTA”, the two institutions have trained over 12,000 MSMEs across 52 countries since 2020, equipping businesses with practical tools that are unlocking regional integration, market access, and entrepreneurship to trade, grow, and integrate across borders. The President spotlighted the Bank’s broader vision: supporting not just trade, but value-added industrialisation, cultural industries, and global south partnerships. He highlighted the Bank’s continued support for initiatives that go beyond trade to address structural transformation. These include AfCFTA masterclasses, creative economy development through Creative Africa Nexus - CANEX and new platforms like the Pan-African Fashion Alliance (PAFA) — designed to organise Africa’s textile and apparel value chain into export-ready clusters, support IP protection, and drive job creation in one of the world’s largest industries. A key highlight of his address was the Bank’s deepening collaboration with Switzerland — a country whose precision manufacturing, innovation, and ESG-driven investment ethos aligns strongly with Africa’s transformation goals. Afreximbank is actively engaging Swiss partners across pharmaceutical manufacturing, agro-processing, machinery, clean energy, and academic research, while also expanding cooperation in trade finance, risk sharing, and industrial development. To solidify this relationship, Prof. Oramah announced the opening of a new Afreximbank Representative Office in Geneva, a hub designed to enhance engagement with Swiss institutions, multilateral partners, and the global trade ecosystem. This milestone follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research (EAER) of the Swiss Confederation opening new pathways for investment, innovation, and collaboration. Afreximbank’s work with ITC and Switzerland reflects a clear ambition: to enable African businesses to compete globally, create local jobs, and drive sustainable industrial growth across the continent and the Global South. #Afreximbank #ITC #Geneva2025 #PartnershipsForAfrica #AfCFTA #GlobalAfrica #SwissAfrica #Industrialisation #TradeFinance Pamela Coke-Hamilton
