  • Celebrating freedom and unity in South Africa  Yesterday marked South Africa’s Freedom Day, a significant occasion commemorating the triumph of democracy over apartheid.   On 27 April 1994, the country held its first democratic election and, for the first time in its history, all South Africans, regardless of race, could vote. It is a celebration of liberation, resilience and the power of unity to bring about change.   #PeopleFirst #RefreshAfrica

  • Celebrating Unity in Tanzania Last Friday, our colleagues in Tanzania celebrated Union Day — a significant moment in the country’s history. This day marks the unification of Tanganyika and Zanzibar in 1964 to form the United Republic of Tanzania. Under the leadership of Julius Nyerere, the nation’s first president, the union brought together diverse regions to build a shared vision of governance, development and national identity. #PeopleFirst #RefreshAfrica

  • Strong partnerships are key to creating shared value across Africa – and Coca-Cola Beverages Africa - Kenya is showing us how it’s done. This week, the team hosted the Carrefour leadership at the Embakasi plant, where MD James Bowmaker and Acting Sales Director Miriam Mutyanziu walked them through the local value chain. The visit provided a powerful platform to strengthen collaboration and deepen customer-focused solutions. CCBA Kenya’s relationship with Carrefour, which began in 2016, continues to grow – and so does the impact for consumers in the Kenyan market. Well done to the Kenya team for driving our customer-obsessed culture and bringing our purpose to life! #RefreshAfrica #CustomerObsessed #CollaborateForImpact

  • Driving Road Safety This Easter This Easter, our team at Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA) has joined forces with the Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) to lead a “Sober vs Drink Driving” campaign – a powerful initiative designed to promote road safety and help reduce accidents during one of South Africa’s busiest travel seasons. Building on our long-standing “Respect the Road” campaign, this collaboration reinforces our ZERO IS POSSIBLE philosophy – a commitment to achieving zero harm across our operations and within the communities we serve. “Every journey should be a safe one. Our ZERO IS POSSIBLE commitment is both our internal benchmark and a public promise,” said Gareth Brandon, Regional Logistics. CCBSA’s own internal safety protocols – including strict speed limit compliance, yard safety practices and forklift handling procedures – are underpinned by our Road Transport Management System (RTMS) accreditation. Through our partnership with JMPD, we’re extending these values into the community and encouraging responsible road behaviour. “Road safety is a shared responsibility,” Gareth added. “Respect the Road goes beyond a campaign – it’s a call to action.” #CollaborateForImpact

  • A milestone investment in Malawi Coca-Cola Beverages Africa, through our subsidiary Coca-Cola Beverages Malawi (CCBM), has officially launched a new USD 14.9 million state-of-the-art production line at our Lilongwe plant. Unveiled in the presence of H.E. Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera President of Malawi, First Lady H.E. Mrs. Monica Chakwera, Vice President H.E. Dr Michael Bizwick Usi, and other senior government officials, the event marked a significant step forward in our commitment to local production and sustainable growth. Our CCBA CEO Sunil Gupta, CCBM MD Neil French, and CCBM Manufacturing Manager Tom Phiri were proud to host the delegation and showcase the new line. Capable of producing 19,200 bottles per hour — including Coca-Cola trademark beverages, bottled water, and the much-loved local brand Sobo — the line also supports exports to Zambia. With built-in AI technology, it proactively reduces downtime, improves efficiency, and creates opportunities for employees to develop future-fit skills. “This investment reaffirms the Coca-Cola system’s local approach – we produce, distribute, and where possible, source locally,” said Sunil Gupta. “It’s about creating shared opportunities across the value chain,” added Neil French. #Malawi #RefreshAfrica #WinningInTheMarket
