"I am very happy to launch the "Jackeline's Rescue" animation film, in partnership with my dear sisters, the African First Ladies. Through our new children's storybook, we want to emphasize the importance of Girls Education. When Girls are educated, their countries become more powerful, stronger & prosperous. There is a need for more support as there are many brilliant girls who are struggling financially and socially to meet their educational needs. Therefore, Merck Foundation started "Educating Linda", a pan-African program that is tailored for each country to contribute to the future of young African girls who are brilliant but underprivileged. The spirit of the project is to provide an opportunity to such girls to pursue their dreams and reach their potential through access to education. "Merck Foundation Educating Linda Program" has supported the education of 1000’s of high performing girls from various countries like Burundi, CAR, DRC, Ghana, The Gambia, Liberia, Malawi, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria and , Zambia and Zimbabwe by providing scholarship and grants that can cover school fees, school uniforms and other essentials including notebooks, pens and mathematical instruments, so they can continue their education. This program is a part of "Merck Foundation More Than a Mother” campaign."
