About us

The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) is the foremost Pan-African multilateral financial institution devoted to financing and promoting intra- and extra-African trade. The Bank was established in October 1993 by African governments, African private and institutional investors, and non-African investors. Its two basic constitutive documents are the Establishment Agreement, which gives it the status of an international organization, and the Charter, which governs its corporate structure and operations.

  • At the official opening ceremony of the 2024 Annual Meetings of the Islamic Development Bank, President Benedict Oramah joined other industry captains namely H.E. Oussama Kaisi, CEO, Islamic Corporation for Insurance on Investment and Export, H.E Hani Sonbol, CEO, International Islamic Trade Finance, and H.E. Ahmed Alsuwaiyan - أحمد الصويان, Governor of Digital Government Authority, on a panel discussion themed « Unlocking Economic Potential: Strategic Integration of Trade, Insurance, and Investments for Vision 2030 »; which considered levers to improve trade and investments across regions. President Oramah pointed to the strategic position of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) as the hub of the Arab world, hub for international connectivity and an investment powerhouse. He also highlighted the central role of Africa is accompanying the KSA in its developmental agenda given the continent’s natural resources, growing population and strategic location on the global map.
