One Week, One Minute: EIB Board of Governors
This week, our Board of Governors, the 27 EU finance ministers, unanimously decided to increase the EIB financing ceiling in 2025 to a record €100 billion, stepping up investment for Europe’s security and defence, energy grids and technological leadership, with flagship projects like the new NATO military campus in Lithuania; and the underwater electricity interconnector between Spain and France. We have launched a new TechEU platform - the largest financing programme for innovation in Europe, with the first wave of financing focusing on cleantech companies. The 2 first deals have been agreed with Danish and German export credit agencies to provide a pan-european guarantee to companies trading with Ukraine, Meanwhile children in the Ukrainian province of Vinnytsia went back to the school we helped reconstruct. We had an excellent exchange with the European Parliament Committee Chairs on our shared priorities, as well as with European Environment Commissioner Roswall, and in Luxembourg with the head of the International Monetary Fund Kristalina Georgieva on building strong partnerships for peace and prosperity. We also signed the first 2 deals with Deutsche Bank and Banque Populaire and Caisse d’Epargne to provide financing to SMEs in the defence sector. Finally, the financing agreement has been signed for broadband access via an underwater cable linking Europe to Africa and India. --------------------------------- Visit our website: https://www.eib.org Follow us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/EuropeanInve...
