For a country to fulfil its economic potential, processes must exist to unearth brilliant ideas from all parts of society. To help achieve this in #Angola, Africell recently launched a Women in Tech competition. Twelve young visionaries pitched ideas ranging from a space education platform to a method for making prosthetics out of recycled ocean plastic. The five most impressive entrants won a year’s worth of school or university tuition fees, boosting their careers and unlocking their entrepreneurial prospects. #technology #innovation #entreprenuership #leadership #luanda #competition #mobile #telecommunications

Africell Angola recently hosted USAID Administrator Samantha Power and United States Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources Richard Verma. During a visit to Angola’s Benguela province, they learned more about a joint #Afrimoney-USAID project called 'Dinheiro Digital é Melhor' (or 'Mobile Money is Better'), which is increasing financial inclusion in Angola’s rural communities by improving digital literacy and offering easier access to mobile money services. #mobilemoney #m4d #development #collaboration #partnership #angola #luanda #telecommunications #unitedstates

Last weekend, we opened the first edition of the Africell Luanda Art Fair. Set in the historic Palácio de Ferro, the fair – which consisted of five exhibitions, a solo show, live art, a talks programme, and music, food and drink – confirms Angola’s status as a hub for original and innovative contemporary art. #art #impact #exhibition #collaboration #digital #mobile #telecommunications #artfair #angola #luanda

One of the privileges of being a mobile network operator is helping people develop digital skills. Digital skills unlock entrepreneurship, improve financial inclusion and facilitate learning. That is why Afrimoney is working with UNDP and FAO in #Angola to train young people starting business in rural areas. Through the recent ‘Digital Inclusion and Future Skills’ project in #Luanda Province, participants covered topics (such as mobile money, computer literacy and digital marketing) that will help them establish and grow successful agricultural businesses. #mobilemoney #mobilefordevelopment #m4d #agriculture #entreprenuership #afrimoney #skills #financialinclusion

Africell is working with The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) to create a new approach to executive learning in Africa. Following a successful pilot in #Gambia and #SierraLeone last year, LSE Generate and Casa do Impacto travelled to #Angola to train high-performing Africell colleagues in leadership, entrepreneurship and innovation. During the visit we teamed up with Launchpad Angola, the British Embassy in Luanda and GGPEN (Angola’s national space program), giving a boost to the local innovation ecosystem and strengthening ties between #Luanda, #London and #Lisbon.
