For a country to fulfil its economic potential, processes must exist to unearth brilliant ideas from all parts of society. To help achieve this in #Angola, Africell recently launched a Women in Tech competition. Twelve young visionaries pitched ideas ranging from a space education platform to a method for making prosthetics out of recycled ocean plastic. Africell Angola recently hosted USAID Administrator Samantha Power and United States Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources Richard Verma. One of the privileges of being a mobile network operator is helping people develop digital skills. Digital skills unlock entrepreneurship, improve financial inclusion and facilitate learning. That is why Afrimoney is working with UNDP and FAO in #Angola to train young people starting business in rural areas. Africell is working with The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) to create a new approach to executive learning in Africa. Following a successful pilot in #Gambia and #SierraLeone last year, LSE Generate and Casa do Impacto travelled to #Angola to train high-performing Africell colleagues in leadership, entrepreneurship and innovation. Last week, the Africell Impact Foundation teamed up with Sotheby's to host a panel discussion and networking event focused on contemporary African creativity. We were joined by world-class speakers including Idris Elba, Ugochukwu-Smooth C. Nzewi, Alexis Akwagyiram and Dana Endundo Ferreira. The panel agreed that African art, music and film are poised for spectacular global growth, and urged governments on the continent to invest in the arts as a catalyst for economic development.
