Today I had the privilege of participating in the groundbreaking ceremony for the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) Africa Trade Centre (AATC) here in Bridgetown, Barbados. This landmark project marks a bold step toward bridging the trade and investment gap between Africa and the Caribbean — a mission I’m proud to support as Governor of the Central Bank of Barbados and an Independent Director on the Afreximbank Board. The AATC will be a state-of-the-art complex, featuring: • A Digital Trade Gateway • Tech & SME incubation hubs • World-class conference & exhibition spaces • Afreximbank’s regional Caribbean office This development is more than concrete and steel — it’s a commitment to transformation; building lasting economic and financial ties with the African continent; and to turning challenge into opportunity, innovation, purpose, and pride. Proud to witness this moment. Excited for the journey ahead.

African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) reposted this
This week, I had the honour of participating in the 133rd Executive Committee (EXCO) Meeting and the 145th Board Meeting of African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), held right here in Barbados. As an Independent Director, I joined colleagues from the Bank’s Management Team—Prof. Benedict O. Oramah, Mr. Denys Denya, and Mrs. Kanayo Awani—in strategic discussions to further Afreximbank’s mission of enhancing intra-African trade and driving economic development across the diaspora. These meetings provided a vital platform to review and approve key initiatives, including credit facilities, investments, and compliance reports—each critical to the Bank’s continued support for Africa’s growth. It was also a powerful reminder of our shared commitment to building stronger global economic ties, especially between Africa, the Caribbean, and the wider world. As we look ahead to the March 24th groundbreaking of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) Africa Trade Centre (AATC) in Bridgetown, the discussions underscored the transformative potential this new facility holds for deepening trade and business linkages across continents. Grateful to my fellow board members and the Bank’s leadership for their vision and collaboration. I look forward to the continued momentum of our partnership and the real-world impact of our work.
